Introduction To SEO – How To Be Pleasing Google

Welcome to the wonderful world of SEO, where your goal is to get Google to notice you without screaming, bribing, or sending it flowers. And what a better way to start than with the basics aka Introduction To SEO!

If you’ve ever poured your heart and soul into a blog post, only for it to sink into the internet void like a bad Tinder date? It’s not your writing—it’s your SEO. Let’s fix that.

What Even Is SEO?

SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which sounds impressive and slightly terrifying. Essentially, it’s the process of convincing Google that your website is worth showing to people. Think of it as being invited to the cool kids’ table—but instead of wearing the right shoes, you need the right keywords, structure, and content.

Here’s the deal: Google is like that one friend who’s impossible to impress. They have rules. Lots of them. And if you don’t play by their rules, your site ends up on page 50 of search results or doesn’t even get find by Google itself. (Translation: No one will ever see it. Not even your mom.)

Why Does SEO Matter?

Fun fact: 75% of people never scroll past the first page of search results. Yep, most internet users are that lazy. If you’re not on page one, you might as well be handing out flyers in the void.

Still not convinced? Imagine opening a bakery, but instead of having a store on Main Street, you’re operating out of a cave in the Himalayas. That’s your website without SEO—beautiful, full of potential, but utterly invisible.

But to really understand how? why? what?, it’s important to get the hands dirty and firstly go through the introduction of SEO.

The Three Pillars of SEO (AKA the Big Three)

Let’s break down the basics:

  1. On-Page SEO: This is all about making your website a masterpiece. Think keywords, headers, and making your content readable enough that even your sleep-deprived self at 3 AM would understand it.
  2. Off-Page SEO: This is where you make friends with other websites. Backlinks are basically other sites saying, “Hey, these guys know their stuff.” (Or, “We were bored and linked to them.”)
  3. Technical SEO: This is the nerdy stuff—like making sure your site doesn’t take 47 years to load. Google loves a speedy website, and so do your visitors.

So, Where Do You Start?

Before diving into the deep end, start simple:

  • Pick your keywords: What do you want to rank for? Spoiler: “Best website ever” probably isn’t going to cut it.
  • Write great content: Don’t just write for Google; write for humans. Google likes humans.
  • Track your progress: Install Google Analytics. Yes, it’s confusing at first, but so was algebra, and you survived that.

Dont worry – We will get into all of this more deeply later!

Final Thoughts

SEO might sound intimidating, but it’s really just a game of trial, error, and occasional tears. (Don’t worry, I’m here for you.) With a bit of effort, you’ll go from “invisible on Google” to “look, Mom, I’m on page one!”

Stay tuned—this is just the beginning of your SEO journey.
